WALES 2010
Well the Geordie Broons set off for a long weekend in North Wales , Prestatyn to be exact . Two caravans booked and 11 members accommodated. Off we went not expecting the weather we got , 80o+ wow suntans all round. Now read on as the story unfolds.
As you should all know by now nothing is ever straight forward when the Geordie Broons embark into a Journey long short home or abroad we always have a story to tell. Set off on time hurray, Dave takes us off on a route via several traffic hold ups until we hit the A66 then our first stop BROUGH for a smoke break then head for DEVILS BRIDGE. First problem Matt's rack falls off with his GIVI box still attached after a scene from the DAMBUSTERS the box finally stops we cant believe it , box and rack still in one piece , after a quick repair job we are on our way. After our stop at DEVILS bridge we head south for the M6 . We somehow end up going through the centre of LANCASTER nose to tail traffic till we get back on the M6.
As we swung a very quick left for Nth.Wales Bryan gets boxed in and heads for BIRMINGHAM (shit) Dave ,Peter and Matt carried on as Larry & Gash do a now familiar Geordie Broon U-TURN to try and catch Bryan as they headed down the M6 towards BIRMINGHAM Bryan was coming back up the other side
OK OK have a good laugh eventually Bryan catches up with the others and Larry & Gash arrive a little later at the caravan site.
PRESTHAVEN SANDS The caravans where two 8 berths so plenty of room. One problem Peter's toilet leaked as he had two it was not a major problem. Site facilities are basic the restaurant was poor had to wait 3/4 hour for our meal to arrive and it left a lot to be desired £4-99 for something that was described as a fish ? £7-99 got you some salad to go with it !!! The site pizza shop delivered to the van and I must say the pizza's where a big improvement on the fish & chips we had. The local ASDA was our supply for food and drink 5 mins down the road.
After Bala Lake Chris headed for the Brecon Beacon's and some local entertainment
BALA LAKE Dave took us on a ride out to THE PONDEROSA,HORSESHOE PASS and BALA LAKE.Dave carried on further south via BETSY COED the rest headed back to the camp site via a different route THEN MORE FUN AND GAMES. Matts,s bike stuttered to a stop blown fuses due to his battery boiling dry. With temperatures now touching 90o+ it was not surprising . However the blown fuses wrecked the fuel pump. Gash nice lad by-passed the pump and got him going again after we just about melted in the sun. Eventually we arrived back at the campsite and cracked open some well deserved cans.
SUNDAY FUN. Dave set off early (to early for the rest of us 7am) scenic run to DEVILS BRIDGE the Welsh version and surrounding area. The rest decide to have a lazy day and WALK yes WALK to PRESTATYN we where told 5mins it was nearer 5 mile away Sunday lunch and a few beers to wash it down excellent meal £5-99 walk round town and taxi back. You didn't think for one moment that we would WALK back come on now one shocks enough.
Dave gets stopped by the plod's they give him the once over checked everything even his helmet and visa ! as the bike is only 2 month old you would think they had better things to do. But that's the way it is in North Wales with the local plod so be warned.
MONDAY & BACK HOME. After a great long weekend in Wales we sadly had to head back home. Dave & Chris left at 7am too early for the rest who set off at 9am out of Wales and onto the M6 so far so good then Matt's bike stalled again. Geordie & Bryan where in front and Peter was last man, he seen Larry & Gash stop to help Matt so went ahead to tell Geordie what happened. Well Matt's bike fired up the problem was as we had by -passed the fuel pump the carbs where running out of fuel faster due to motorway speeds . As we stopped Gash's alarm went off every time a wagon passed, so ready to go Gash's bike wouldn't start OH NO ! after several phone calls to the RAC and Peter it was decided that Peter and the others head home till we sorted the problem. After waiting 3/4 hour for the RAC Gash took his battery off to have a look . The problem was soon solved due to the number of wagon's passing the alarm/immobiliser fused .New fuse fires up then RAC turns up as we are about to leave.Sods law I suppose. So back on the road at reduced speed no more problems after that, or so we thought. We later found out that as Bryan got off his bike at home his rear shocker collapsed . Well I told you nothings straight forward when the GEORDIE BROONS go on there travels.
SKEGNESS 2011
WELL IT'S ANOTHER YEAR AND THE START OF THE GEORDIE BROON ADVENTURES FOR 2011
This year we set off to the east coast for a 4 day break in SKEGNESS at the SOUTHVIEW caravan park . This was organised by PETER (well done mate) another cheap weekend thanks to the SUN newspaper's cheap hols.
Well we got off to a great start sunshine all the way and stayed like that all weekend 20o - 24o phew. I am sorry to report that everything went OK now as you well know that is not like the Geordie broons to have a trouble free time but it did happen. Well apart from ANGELA getting the S**T scared out of her when she opened the cupboard and a DUCK flew out ( I WONDER WHO PUT THAT THERE ) One word of warning there are no petrol staions from the M62 to SKEGNESS as we had done 180 mile we had to pull off at LOUGH as we still had 20 mile to go , so be warned.
ROSSEHOLME SOMERSET 2012
Peter once again comes up trumps with a mansion booked at Rosseholme Somerset. 15 of us are up and ready to go after Peter eventually got everyone to pay ! As you are all well aware this has been the worst year on record for rain but we all set off hopes held high as we set away in bright sunshine the first sunny day this year ? Runouts planned for Lands End , Cheddar Gourge etc. etc.
Everyone arrives safe and sound, beds sorted, beer sorted, food sorted few drinks etc. off to bed ready for the fun to start.
Well as usual everything does not go to plan, up and ready off to the local garage to fill up then away we go. First three bikes away then Andy has to wait for a gap in traffic. Then shit happens this guy decides to reverse into Andy and did not stop till he was on top of the bike.
It's a right off wheel forks dics etc all bent, eventually get things sorted bike took away etc. Andy now with no bike for the rest of the holiday, insurance eventually supply a car yes a car three days later. Then it starts to rain and it rained and rained and rained. The rest off the week was pardon the pun a washout. So by the end of the week everyone is ready for home. More rain Eric,s SAT NAV takes in water,Georges intercom gets flooded and packs in and everyone got a right good soaking on the way back.
Ah well happy day's. There's always next year.
